Drag Queen Gala
The Drag Queen Gala will take place on Thursday 28th March at 21:00h presented by Roberto Herrera.
The Wig Party
The Wig Party was introduced in 2017 to get more people in costume during the other carnival days, not just on parade day!
This will take place on Friday 29th March with entertainment including music from DJ’s and live acts.
Arguineguin Carnival Parade
The big parade (cabalgata) is on Saturday 21st March 2020 and starts at 19:00h on the High School road El Timonel. A flurry of costumed people and floats in full song and dance will parade through the village round past the Ancora Center (good place for watching) and through to the Market Square (Plaza Negra) where the party goes on until the early hours.
Arguineguin welcomes everyone to join in the fun, so if you are on holiday make sure to buy a costume from one of the local shops or pack one in your suitcase.
Here’s the Arguineguin carnival program in English:
Most of the festivities take place in the Market Square, with stages, music, bands and chiringuitos providing tasty grills and fairground snacks.
Funeral of the Sardine
The burning of the sardine on the last day of Carnival (Sunday 22nd March 2020) is a one of the quirkier features of the fiesta, which symbolizes the end of the party by setting fire to a huge fish decoration. This takes place on Las Marañuelas beach, followed by a spectacular firework show.
